I took this picture last week when I visited the house (of the girl in the middle)
"Thanakha", Myanmar's traditional skin cosmetic and make up ,
has the history of 2,000 years and is still widely used by children and adults until today.
Thanaka made by grinding the bark or roots of a thanaka tree on a circular slate slab called kyauk pyin with a small amount of water.The finished liquid or paste is applied to the face and body. It is said to have the effects of cooling ,preventing sunburn and insect bites as well as beautifying the skin.
Applying Tanaka is a must routine after washing the face in the morning and after having a shower.
A face without Tanaka is often said as a dull face.
Here,where I grew up, the children can not only take care of their younger siblings, but also the little ones around them. They'll clean if one is dirty,comfort if one is crying, give and share the rice if one is hungry.
With all my heart,I'm really proud of these girls,being friends with them, and doing the same when I was little.
Even though there's nothing good about growing up and living under the military rule or in war zones,and even though the situations are confusing and we don't know where the world is going, CHILDREN ARE KIND.
That's the truth for anywhere in the world.
Tonight, I want to pray for the children of Myanmar,the children of the world, and manifest peace and protection around each and everyone of them.
シャワーの後、すぐ近所のお姉ちゃんの家で、タナカを塗ってもらっている二人の女の子。
先週、遊びに行った(真中の子の)家で撮った写真です。
「タナカ」とは二千年の歴史を持ち、子供から大人まで今現在も広く使われる
ミャンマーの伝統的な美容、化粧品です。
「タナカ」は「タナカ」という名前の木の木片をチャウッ・ピィンと呼ばれる円状の研磨石で、少し水を入れてすりつぶし、出来上がった液やペーストを顔や体に塗るものです。皮膚にひんやりと冷たく、日焼けと虫刺されの防止効果も美肌効果もあると言われています。
朝、顔洗ってすぐタナカ、シャワー浴びてすぐ、タナカ。
タナカのない顔は暗い顔、元気のない顔とよく言われます。
私が育ったところ、ここの子供たちは自分の兄弟のお世話だけじゃなくて、周りの小さな子たちの世話もよくできます。
汚れてたら洗ってあげる、泣いてたら慰める、お腹が空いてたらご飯をあげる。
私はこの子たちのこと、この子達と友達であること、そして、自分も小さい時、同じことをやってたことを心から誇りに思う。
軍事政権下で、戦闘で、育って、生きるってことは一つもいいことないけど、世界の情勢が混乱してどこに向かってしまってるか分からないけど、子供は優しい。
世界のどこでもそれは変わらない。
